Tungsten carbide: a high-performance material

Tungsten carbide is an extremely durable material used to reinforce parts subjected to high wear stresses.

Composed of tungsten and carbon, it offers very high hardness, close to that of diamond, as well as excellent resistance to abrasion.

Our Expertise

AgriCarb relies on comprehensive industrial know-how and a dedicated R&D department to design solutions that are increasingly efficient and tailored to field constraints.

An experienced engineering team works on the development of innovative wear parts, integrating advanced technologies and field feedback.

  • Development of around 30 new products per year
  • Design of custom wear parts
  • Application engineers present in the field to test and improve solutions
  • Continuous adaptation to customer needs

Our inserts

Highly resistant thanks to their tungsten carbide structure, our AgriCarb inserts are particularly well suited for reinforcing wear parts used in soil cultivation.

Since 1985, we have been manufacturing our own carbide inserts, custom-designed to fit various steel substrates while ensuring full quality control. To date, more than 150 models have been developed in our factory to meet the different shapes and applications of AgriCarb wear parts.

Our innovations

Chrome hard-facing

Developed since 2013, chrome overlay is robotically applied within our Meyzieu factory, always under the supervision of our teams to ensure quality control.

Composed of chromium, this overlay is applied to the most sensitive areas of the parts to reduce wear and help maintain their working geometry. It is therefore the ideal complement to tungsten carbide inserts.

HR2, tungsten carbide hard-facing

Developed since 2013, the chrome overlay is robotically applied within our Meyzieu factory, always under the supervision of our teams to ensure quality control.

Composed of chromium, this overlay is applied to the most sensitive areas of the parts to reduce wear and help maintain their working geometry. It is therefore the ideal complement to tungsten carbide insert.

Benefits of HR2 technology
  • Very high resistance to abrasion
  • Up to 60% longer service life compared to chrome overlay
  • Uniform wear across the entire length of the part
  • Improved soil penetration and reduced draft force
  • Reduced fuel consumption
  • Maintenance of consistent working geometry

A technology derived from the aerospace and automotive industries:
Inspired by technologies used in the aerospace and automotive sectors, HR2 technology is based on high-level industrial expertise. AgriCarb is the only European manufacturer offering this protection for agricultural wear parts.

The harrow tine – LT technology

Developed in 2015, LT (Long Time) technology is a concept specifically designed for harrow tines to ensure durability and working performance.

It is based on the integration of 6 tungsten carbide inserts, aligned and brazed directly onto the tine. Their optimized orientation and positioning allow for perfect integration and controlled wear.

Benefits of LT technology

  • Uniform and optimized wear
  • Reduced draft force
  • Improved attack angle
  • Better soil penetration
  • Increased tine lifespan

The carbide inserts, arranged asymmetrically and adapted to the type of tine, help optimize the wear flow and ensure consistent performance over time.
